Call for Interest: The Combustion Institute Women in Combustion Advisory Committee

The Combustion Institute is pleased to invite individuals interested in serving on the Women in Combustion (WiC) Advisory Committee to complete a Call for Interest form. Committee members will have the opportunity to apply their experience and enthusiasm to identifying and advancing the needs of women in combustion while helping foster meaningful, positive change. The committee will provide thoughtful recommendations to support women in combustion and strengthen the broader Combustion Institute community.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

• A commitment to working collaboratively with fellow committee members to develop and implement ideas that increase the involvement of women in combustion. Areas of focus may include:
  • Symposia planning and programming
  • Future awards and accolades
  • Communication strategies and outreach efforts
  • Mentoring and educational programs
• Availability and willingness to attend committee meetings and participate in events as needed.
• Active participation in meetings and discussions to help develop informed recommendations that support women in combustion and the broader Combustion Institute membership.
• Encourage nomination and support of deserving women for awards and recognition.
• Support the development of messaging that strengthens communications and highlights the unique needs of women in combustion.

Interest Process
To express your interest in joining the WiCAC, please complete the Women in Combustion Advisory Committee – Interest Form, providing the following statements:

• Your motivation for joining the committee.
• The perspective and contributions you would bring to the committee.
• Your qualifications and experiences that would strengthen the committee's composition.
• A summary of your involvement in Combustion Institute activities, such as meeting attendance, publications in CI-affiliated journals and attending WiCAC luncheons.

Please submit your interest form no later than 23:59 EST on 18 October 2026. Applicants will be notified by 23 November 2026.
