IMPORTANT NOTICE: Beware of Housing Piracy Company Emails

It has been brought to our attention that some CI members have received emails from “Global Travel Experts” to book accommodations for the CI’s 41st International Symposium on Combustion (ISOC). This company is NOT affiliated with The Combustion Institute or the CI’s 41st International Symposium on Combustion (ISOC), which will take place in Kyoto from July 26–31, 2026.

The official organizing and accommodation arrangements for the 41st ISOC are handled through the symposium’s designated channels, coordinated by the event’s organizing secretariat, Japan Convention Services, Inc.. More information is available on the official symposium website, under accomodation and travel, then hotel accomodations.

Remember, you will never be contacted by an outside organization to make your accommodations for Kyoto.

“Please beware of housing piracy companies. They are contacting delegates/sponsors to book rooms through their channels and are claiming that they control the rooms for the Meeting. They do not. These companies charge non-refundable deposits from the moment you book their rooms; thus, making it impossible for delegates to cancel their reservations. In some situations, rooms are not booked but payment has been taken.”

We thank the members who have brought this to our attention. If you have any questions, concerns, or would like us to confirm the validity of any emails you may receive regarding 41st ISOC accommodations, contact office@combustioninstitute.org.
