Call for Nominations: 2026 Bernard Lewis Fellowship

The nomination portal for the 2026 Bernard Lewis Fellowship is now open! The Bernard Lewis Fellowship was established to encourage high quality research by young scientists and engineers. Fellowships are awarded at each International Symposium on Combustion. Nominations will be accepted until 26 March 2026

A fellowship consists of a $500 USD cash award and financial reimbursements for the registration fee for the CI's 41st International Symposium on Combustion, as well as the excursion, the banquet, and hotel accommodations during the Symposium.

Eligible recipients must be:  

  • Students or combustion scientists who have earned their Ph.D. (or equivalent) within three years of the Symposium (2023 or after) 
  • Author of a paper accepted for the CI's 41st International Symposium on Combustion
  • A member of The Combustion Institute
