"Combustion and Flame" Highlight
An article dedicated to Professor Sébastien Candel, Laboratoire EM2C - CentraleSupélec, was published recently in
Combustion and Flame (
https://doi.org/10.1016/j.combustflame.2025.114301). The article retraces some of Professor Candel's most significant contributions to the world of combustion. The article presents a review of the state of the art and Sébastien's contributions in six areas of combustion:
- Cryogenic combustion and dynamics of liquid-propellant rocket engines
- Modeling turbulent combustion
- Combustion noise
- Flame dynamics and combustion instability
- Flame description functions for the analysis of combustion instabilities
- Combustion dynamics and instabilities of annular systems such as gas turbines
Each topic can be read independently of the others. It's also, of course, an excellent way to pay tribute to the incredible influence of Professor Candel on the combustion community.
