NSF Funding Opportunities in Fire Science Innovations Through Research and Education (FIRE)
The Combustion Institute is excited to share National Science Foundation (NSF) funding opportunities in Fire Science Innovations through Research and Education (FIRE). This is a new cross-foundation initiative by the Wildland Fire Initiative Working Group at NSF and with significant commitments in FY25 by Directorates of ENG, GEO, BIO, SBE, etc. and by external partners Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, DoD SERDP/ESTCP, and NASA.
Focus areas include:
- Next Generation Coupled Fire Models (FIRE-MODEL)
- Enhancing Capacity for Fire Resilience in the Wildland-Urban Interface (FIRE-WUI)
- Fire Science Innovations through Research and Education (FIRE) Networks (FIRE-NET)
