During the interval between meetings of the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee exercises their power in the management and direction of business and other affairs. The Executive Committee is composed of six members that serve four-year terms:

The Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Executive Committee. The President presides over all meetings, and has general and active management of CI business.
Assaad Masri (President-Elect)
The University of Sydney, Australia
The Vice Chair of the Executive Committee, vested with all the powers required to perform the duties of the President in the President’s absence or disability.
Osamu Fujita, Vice President for Sectional Affairs
Hokkaido University, Japan
Chairs The Combustion Institute Committee, and with the Secretary for Sectional Affairs, represents CI in working with groups to become regional sections, and assures sections fulfill their responsibilities.
Derek Dunn-Rankin, Treasurer
University of California, Irvine, United States
Charged with the custody of CI funds, with support of the Executive Administrator, and keeps full and accurate accounts of receipts and disbursements in records belonging to CI.
Terese Løvås, Secretary
Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway
Keeps the minutes of all meetings of members and of the Board of Directors, with the support of the Executive Administrator, and attends to the serving of all CI notices.
Zheng Chen, Secretary for Sectional Affairs
Peking University, China
Secretary of The Combustion Institute Committee and vested with all the powers required to perform the duties of the Vice President for Sectional Affairs in the event of his/her absence or disability.
